Baby Shower Spotlight - March 2010

This past March, we outlined some helpful tips for hosting a baby shower in our blog post entitled Baby Showers “R” Us. Now that the dust has settled from our busy spring season, we wanted to share the baby shower celebrations we had the pleasure of planning these past two months.

A big congratulations must be given to Krista and Rob and their new baby girl! Their baby shower took place in March, and was a big family affair with a total of 45 guests helping them celebrate the upcoming arrival of their little bundle. We had so much fun planning this shower, well actually, it was more of a torrential down pour than a spring shower. Take a look:

This baby shower’s theme was all about Spring, while incorporating the colours of the nursery to create a bright and cheery atmosphere. Hot pink with punches of apple green and white could be seen throughout the décor, helping to bring the room together.

Bud vases, adorned with swiss dot green ribbon, held hot pink gerbera daises and green spider mums. Hand-stamped packages of chocolates were placed at each place setting as favors.

The mom-to-be was so thrilled with the diaper cake, created by: By Design Gifts, that she was hesitant to take it apart once it was brought home.

The personal touches were the icing on the cake and just what the shower needed. While presents were being opened, the guests played a lively game of Baby Shower Bingo. Created specifically for this shower, the bingo cards were customized to the parents’ baby registry.

During the shower, guests were invited to write a short note and/or jot down a piece of advice for the family on a note card. Each note was placed in a self-addressed envelope and put into the basket which the new parents could use in the nursery. Lastly, a close family friend (who had made Krista and Rob’s wedding cake), made vanilla and chocolate cupcakes for the shower. Not only did they look fantastic but they tasted amazing as well.

By the end of the afternoon it was clear that  everyone, including the mom-to-be, enjoyed themselves, even the men who snuck in to fill their plates with the leftover food.
